THE ESMERALDA PROJECT
In the Volcano and in Soyapango, some children sleep two or three to a bed, sometimes with their parents, siblings or other family members. Some are even left to sleep on the ground.
By participating in the Esmeralda Project, you can make one or many children and their families happy. This may be through donating funds to support the project or by personally working to construct a bed yourself if you visit us with a Missions Team.
ESMERALDA'S
STORY
In the fall of 2013, Esmeralda, one of the girls from our Children's Development Center in the Volcano, fell ill with cancer. During one of our Director's visits to her home, Esmeralda told her that her dream was to have her very own bed to sleep in.
Soon after, a missions team serving with us for a week answered the call and delivered her a beautiful, new bed to sleep in. Esmeralda fought bravely for several months before passing away in March of 2014, just days after telling our Director that she was ready to be with Jesus.
In honor of her memory and in response to the real need that many children at our CDCs have for new beds, the vision for The Esmeralda Project was born. Our dream is to provide a new bed for each of the over 220 children that are in our CDC program at the Volcano and in Soyapango.
With a donation of $160, we are able to build a new bed and deliver it, including bedding and a pillow.

In the designation dropdown menu, select “Guayabo CDI Center – San Salvador” to build a bed in the Volcano, or “Soyapango CDI Center – San Salvador” to build a bed in Soyapango.

We will build the bed and deliver it to a child in need and we will send you the photos of the delivery.
2. If you are one of our child sponsors, you can send your donation through GCLA (see steps under #1) and in the dedication box, please type “Bed-your sponsor child’s name”.
We will construct the bed and send you pictures of the delivery!
3. If you are part of a Mission Team coming to serve with us in San Salvador, you can raise extra funds to build as many beds as you wish.
In this case, you can participate in putting the beds together while you are in El Salvador. We will provide you with the instructions on how to construct it and we will coordinate a visit for you to deliver the bed personally to the child’s home.
